Chapter 1 A Forever Love

Chapter One

Cecily loved New York, but she was really getting home sick. She’d lived there for four years now and it had been an experience. She met Mark when she went out to a club with friends and he swept her off her feet. He was the perfect guy. But after a few months she started to realize the traits she’d once loved weren’t enough to cover the rest. He was rude and obnoxious to everyone and he was starting to get violent with her. She sat and watched him closely while they ate their dinner.

"What is your problem Cecily?" She started to shake from the nasty tone in his voice, but she calmed herself.

"Nothing. I'm just not feeling well and was wondering when we could go home?" He stopped eating and looked at her, the glare making her want to turn away, but she tried to stare him down.

"Does it look like I'm done?" He threw his fork down, picked his napkin off of his lap, wiped his mouth and tossed it on the table then flagged the waiter for the check. She knew when they left he was going to yell at her. He seemed to yell at her a lot these days. Times like these she really missed Grayson. He would always defend her honor. It would make her mad most of the time, but now she really wished he were here instead of Mark. They got outside and the valet had Mark's car waiting for them. Mark didn't even open her door for her.

"Thank you. That's very sweet," The young man gave her a huge smile, but it didn't last when Mark yelled at him from inside the car.

"Hey, jackass! She knows how to open a fucking door. Get in, Cecily!" She felt so bad for the boy she silently mouthed to him that she was sorry. He shook his head and gave her a sad smile. How could Mark be such a jerk? She was pissed and his behavior had been just about enough for her. No relationship was worth this much pain. He didn't even like her paintings, calling her adequate. Adequate. Cecily had always prided herself a strong woman. When did she get to this point where she would let a man treat her like this? She didn't speak the whole way back to Mark's penthouse. When they pulled into the parking garage she heard his sadistic laugh.

"So I guess you’re going to sulk all night?" He didn't even wait for her answer before he got out of the car and took off for the elevator, not even waiting for her. There was an older couple coming out as Mark was trying to get in and Cecily cringed hoping he wouldn’t be rude to them.

"Any damn day now, grandpa," he called out leaving the poor old couple to look at him, confusion marking their features. Cecily found herself once again wanting to apologize for Mark. She was always apologizing for his actions, but this was the last straw. She was leaving him. As soon as they got into the apartment she went straight for the bedroom and started packing her bags. Most of her stuff was in a storage building. Mark had asked her to move in with him three months ago and almost instantly their relationship changed. Because of that she never brought any of her stuff out of storage. Not that he would have wanted it in his place anyway. Her taste was not as refined as his and he always made sure she knew it.

"What the hell are you doing?" She kept packing and not looking at him like he wasn't even there.

"I'm leaving. I've had enough of you being an ass to everyone you meet." She could feel her blood begin to boil. She was getting her strength back and it felt good. The feeling didn't last long though when Mark reached and grabbed her arm, jerking her towards him.

"And where is it you think you can go? Those losers you went to school with couldn't hack it in the city." He was right. There was really no one she could stay with. The reason she moved in with Mark in the first place was because her friends Kathy and Clare moved back to their home towns and Cleo moved in with her boyfriend.

"I'll go home." He shoved her back so hard she fell on the bed. He flipped her over and pinned her arm behind her back, causing her to cry out in pain as he put his mouth to her ear. She felt his hot breath against her neck. She tried to struggle to get away from him, but he just held her tighter till she thought he would break her arm. Her stomach tightened in fear and a rush of nausea came over her when she heard his cruel laugh.

"That's right. Run home to mommy and daddy. Only the strong survive here in the jungle baby so take your fat loser ass and go. I was pretty much done with you anyway!" He pushed away from her and left the room.

Cecily started to cry but she wasn't going to give him the pleasure of seeing her upset so she jumped up and grabbed her bags. All she wanted to do was get the hell out of there. She took his key off her key chain, threw it at him and ran out the door for the elevator. He was screaming and cursing at her and she could hear him even after the door shut. All at once fear, satisfaction, and numerous other feelings washed over her making her knees feel like rubber causing her to drop to the floor in tears. When the doors opened, she ran out. She just wanted to get out of the building as fast as she could. What was she going to do now? She didn't even own a car. She went to the front desk and asked if the porter knew where she could rent a car.

The young man at the front desk was always very nice to her. "Yes, Miss Martin, we have a rental car service. What kind of a car would you like?"

"Just a compact is fine if you have one, please." The look on his face told her he didn't, but he could tell by her tear-streaked face that he needed to help her. Mark could be down there any second and she had to get away.

"I'll tell you what, go have a seat in the bar and I'll find one for you." He gave her a sweet smile and she nodded then went into the bar to wait. This was all too much for her to handle and for the second time tonight she caught herself wishing Grayson were here. It had been so long since she’d even heard from him. Grayson was her best friend ever since they were babies. He was a wonderful guy and was always like a big brother to her. Cecily had a crush on him for the longest time, but he always just thought of her as his baby sister. He gave her the nickname Sissy when he learned to talk. Grayson would always protect her and there was a point when she was a freshman in high school that she started to think of him as her knight in shining armor after he beat up a guy that was being a jerk to her. He was so handsome and kind. Would it be odd if he became her boyfriend? Grayson didn't think of her in that way. The young man from the front desk brought her back to reality.

"Miss Martin, your car is here." She couldn't help but notice how cute he was. He had a very kind face and a sweet smile. She’d known him for months, but this was really the first time she actually looked at him closely.

She smiled at him in return. "Thank you so much. You didn't need to go to all that trouble for me."

"It was no trouble at all, really. Just return the car to your local Enterprise by noon Monday. If you need it longer, just let them know.”

He reached for her bags and took them to the car. After he loaded them in the trunk, he gave her another kind smile.

"There you go. Now you have a safe trip." She waved to him and headed out of the city to Cold Spring. The George Washington Bridge seemed busier than usual tonight of all nights when all she wanted to do was get out of the city. It was about an hour drive up to Cold Spring and it was already late. Her parents would surely be in bed. She still had a key, but if she snuck in she might wake them. When she pulled in to the historic family home on Morris Avenue, she saw that the kitchen light was on. That could only mean one thing. When Cecily’s mom couldn't sleep, she baked.

"Sweetie, you know it’s always great to see you but why are you here so late?" It had been almost six months since she’d been home. Not since Christmas had she seen her family and she hadn't seen Grayson for over a year.

"I'm sorry mom. I guess time just got away from me. I should have come home sooner. What are you baking?" She asked, trying to change the subject.

"No way little girl, don’t change the subject. What’s wrong and don't say nothing. I can see it all over your face." Cecily never could hide anything from her mom so she busted out crying.

"Mark is such an ass. He's always pissed at the world and I told him I wasn't going to live that way anymore. He told me to take my fat, loser ass back to mommy and daddy. I can't believe I thought he was a good man. He even said my paintings were only adequate at best. I don't know when I changed so much that I would let a man treat me like that." Her mom didn't say a word, rather she opened her arms for Cecily to come into, just like she always had. Then she got each of them a big glass of milk and some warm cookies and they sat and talked. It felt good to be home.

Cecily had been through so much she yawned and realized she just wanted to get into her warm childhood bed and forget everything that had happened. She had some big decisions to make about where her life was going.

My Writing Process- Blog Tour

Posted by redsheila on January 5, 2014 at 4:10 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi there everyone!!! I have been invited by my good friend Lila Munro to participate in a Blog Tour. She is a great author and friend of mine with Rebel Ink Press. You need to head over to her page and check out her work too after we get done here. You can find her at www.lilamunro.com

I was asked 4 questions

First: What am I working on? Well at this time I am working on a story that will be a part of my A Forever Love series. The first book in the series is A Forever Love. Its a great story filled with Love and pain and loss. It starts with the lives of Grayson Rockland and the love of his life Cecily Martin. They have been the best of friends their whole lives. Both love one another deeply but each thinks its the love of a brother and sister. When they both discover who the both actually feel for one another they set out to make a beautiful life together, but, Cecily has an abusive ex that has different plans......come by and find out what these two people go through to be together and then continue the journey in A Forever Love retribution coming in February 2014.

Second: How does my work differ from others of its genre? Well I love a great love story but I add so much more to them. I add the suspence and pain of life and in some of my stories I'll add a touch of the supernatureal just to keep it even more interesting ;)

Third: Why do I write what I do? Well I have always felt of myself as a hopeless romantic. Like I said I love a good love story, but there is more that always seems to come with a good love story. Life isn't easy. We all wish that it could be, but there is way more to it then just love. There is pain, and loss and tragity as well. It's just reality. While I'm thinking of characters and stories to write, so many ideas start to flow, good, bad, happy and sad. I just have to put them down on paper. I'll tell you a little secret......I ofter cry for my characters and the things that I put them through to make a story better. I sometimes think Im just a mean person for putting them through so much, but then I remember, such is life. With it comes so many twists and turns.

Fouth: How does my wirting process work? Well now that it's bitter cold outside, I cuddle up in my toasty warm bed with my computers and notebooks. If I get an idea while I'm typing and it will work great in my story, or another, then I quickly write it down in my notebook. That sucker is stuffed plumb full of ideas for future books. If it's a beautiful warm day then I love to curl up in my chair on my back deck and breath in the fresh air. It always seems to open up my brain and let some of those thousands of ideas come flowing out. Heck I love to tell a good story.

Now check out some of my other friends and get to know them and their works. I know you will love them as much as I do!!!

Chapter 1

Another dream, or was it? Annalisa was not sure if they were dreams, or visions. They just seemed so real. "Of course it’s not real." She told herself. "Edward is gone." Her husband had passed away a year and a half ago, but when she dreams, it’s like he has never left. He talks to her and she can almost feel him with her. "It has to be a dream. I can't be going crazy." Annalisa lay there, staring at the ceiling, tears streaming down her face while she remembered the night Edward died.

It was late when she went to get into bed. She tried to be as quiet as possible so as not to wake him. He hadn't been sleeping well for a few days now. She had tried to get him to the Dr. to get the headaches checked out that he was also having but he was such a stubborn man. “I’m fine Annalisa; it’s just stress from work. I have to get this car finished for the client since he will be here day after tomorrow to get it and I can't seem to get it done. I make two steps forward on it, then three steps back and it’s just getting to me, but when it’s done it will be worth it. I'll tell you what; I'll take you on a vacation. Anywhere your beautiful heart desires. Where would you like to go love?"

Edward was such a sweet loving man, and as he held Annalisa in his arms and stroked her hair to comfort her, she felt so at ease and decided to leave him alone about going to the Dr. for now at least.

"Anywhere? We can go anywhere I want?" She was so excited; it had been 3 years since they had been on a vacation. Edward was such a hard worker; he never seemed to have time to take off for pleasure. Annalisa had not worked for about 4 years now, since she had, had cancer 5 years ago she had not been the same. The chemo had ravaged her body and made her so ill she could no longer work. Edward had told her they would be fine, that her health was more important than anything. But with her not working they lived pay check to pay check now, so no more vacations.

Edward had started a small car restoration business and they knew that it would be even tougher now until he started to turn a profit. When this car was done, they would finally start to see that.

"Are you sure that we can afford that Edward? Or should we just put it in the bank and wait?" She worried that they needed to get some money to fall back on before they took off somewhere on vacation.

"Love, I really need this break. I can relax and refresh with you and Cole. Then since summer is here and he will be out of school, when we get back I can get him in the shop with me and teach him, so that he can help me with my next restoration." Annalisa knew he was right, he really needed this. Maybe his headaches would go away and he would be able to get some sleep.

"Ok, let’s do this! I want to go to Hawaii!" Edward smiled at her with his huge handsome smile, and his kind grey eyes. Oh how she loved him. "Anything for you love. Should we go tell Cole?" Cole was their teenage son. A very quiet, handsome sweet boy, he looked just like his father. A good boy who always did what his parents asked. They have two daughters as well. The girls were older, and married to men that Annalisa and Edward loved as sons. Their daughters were beautiful girls. Karisa was a blond, grey eyed beauty with a heart of gold and Sahara was a redheaded green eyed beauty just like her mother. She was just a beautiful as her older sister, but whereas Karisa was calm and easy going, Sahara could never stop going. Her poor husband could barely keep up with her most of the time. Annalisa’s children all had a mix of their mother and fathers traits. Even with all of their trials, they really had a wonderful life.

They told Cole, who was so excited, he couldn't wait to go call his friends and tell them where he was going to be for the summer.

Edward really wanted to take the entire family on this trip. Who knows if this would be the last one for a while or not, so he really wanted to make it a great one. The girls and their husbands were super excited as well and couldn't wait to start planning for the trip. Edward had told Annalisa that he was pretty worn out and he was going to go on to bed. “Ok sweetie, you go get some sleep. I’m going to do some research on tickets and hotels and things we can do while we are there."

About two hours later, Annalisa told Cole goodnight and checked all the doors and the lights and went to go to bed. She snuck in quietly so she would not wake Edward and went into her bathroom and closed the door. She was still a little keyed up and excited so she thought if she took a bath so she could whined down a bit so that she could sleep. She started the bath water and began to undress when she heard Edward speak to her.

"Ok my goodness, Edward you scared me to death." She laughed but soon her smile faded. “I didn't even hear you come in. Are you ok sweetie? You look sick.” She could tell something was wrong so she reached down and turned the water off so she could see what was wrong.

"Annalisa, you know how much I love you right?" She stared at him for a couple of seconds, what was that all about? Of course she knew he loved her.

“Yes Edward, you know how much I love you too right?"

"Yes love, I do. I knew I loved you from the moment I saw you when I was 20 years old. I knew you were young, but I told myself at that moment, I am going to marry her. I have never met anyone as beautiful as you and I knew I would spend the rest of my life with you." He had tears in his eyes which made Annalisa’s heart ack. She started to get a lump in her throat and started to cry herself. Edward was a very kind man but he had never told her that before. He just didn't open up like that.

"I never knew that Edward, thank you for telling me that, but what’s wrong, why are you telling me this now?" His expression was still soft but she could tell there was something else that he needed to say to her. They just stared at each other for what seemed to be minutes when Edward finally spoke again.

“Annalisa, I’m so sorry love, but I am not going to be able to take you to Hawaii like I wanted." She was very confused, what had happened to make him change his mind?

"You see it’s not that I don't want to, but I’m not going to be here. I am so very sorry love. I should have listened to you and went to the Dr." Annalisa was so confused at what he was saying, where was this coming from?

"It’s ok sweetheart, I know you are a stubborn man, but you are probably right, after some rest and relaxation, you will be much better." He was not smiling at all anymore, he was crying. Edward doesn’t cry. What is going on, why is he crying? Why was she feeling like something terrible had happened?

“Love, you need to sit down, please. I cannot take you, because, I died." DIED!!! What is he saying this for?

"Dead? Baby your right here please stop this, your scarring me!" His voice was so soft now it was just above a whisper.

"Love, I’m not really here. I’m in the other room in the bed. I wanted to tell you how much I loved you one last time and to say how sorry I am for not being here to take care of you. I had an aneurism Annalisa, and I did not survive. It was not painful though love. I went to sleep and it happened. I didn’t feel a thing."

Annalisa could not believe what she was hearing. How could he be saying this? He looked so serious and so sad though. "NO! NO! This is not real. I am dreaming. Your right here Edward, you are not dead! Please stop doing this to me! You know there is no way that I could ever live without you. EVER!"

Edward put his head in his hands and cried. He wanted so badly to be there for her and take care of her always, but he would no longer be able to do that. "Annalisa, please you’re getting so upset and that is why I wanted to talk to you before I go. I want you to know how much I love you and our children. I know we had our problems over the years but I would never have wanted to be with anyone else but you and you always made me a happy man, even if I didn't always say it. I should have done a better job at making you feel loved and for that I am very sorry. I have to go now love. Please, look at me Annalisa."

She was still in shock but when he asked her to look at him, she realized she was actually crying very hard and shaking. She tried to calm herself, and look at him. She looked at this beautiful man that she had been married to for the last 25 years and looked into his calm, sad grey eyes and she realized in that moment, that he was telling her the truth. The love of her life was gone.

"I love you so much Edward, I will never love another man. You will always be my soul mate. I will cherish you forever my love." He smiled at her and leaned to kiss her on the forehead, and then, he was gone. Annalisa stood there for a time, she didn't even know how long, before she reached to open the door. She walked into her room and saw he husband laying in their king size bed, looking like he was peacefully sleeping. Even though she knew he was gone, she crawled into bed and curled up next to him with her arms around him and broke down and cried beyond belief. The pain was more then she had ever felt in her entire life. The only man she had ever loved was gone.
